Weighing station - description

1. Heavy vehicles are lead in one lane by traffic sign (1)

2. Vehicle is detected, classified and pre-weighed on HSWIM equipment at normal highway speed – gross vehicle weight and axle loads are measured with accuracy 5-10%. (2)

3. Vehicles that are suspicious from overloading are redirected by a variable traffic sign (3) to weighing site for legal law enforcement weighing equipped with approved LSWIM weighbridge VM-2.2 (5) Measured values are automatically compared to national limits and fines for overloading are set.

4. If the payments for overloading are collected on this site, it is necessary to have built also base for operators (7), (8) and parking place for overloaded vehicles (9).

5. If automated operation is preferred, weighing station is equipped with video system or license plate recognition system (LPR) for unique identification and documentation of overloaded vehicle. Weighing protocols are sent on-line to nearest police station or to Road administrator’s office.
